Play Therapy uses a variety of play and creative arts techniques to help a young child who might be experiencing behavioral and/or emotional difficulties. These play techniques help a child to express what might be distressing and allows the parent and the clinician insight as to how best to help the child adapt and use his/her inherent strengths to soothe and cope. Strategies and techniques for parenting can be integrated for the parent and child with the information gleaned through the play therapy sessions.
At Mended Families we specialize in helping children starting at age 4 with emotional and behavioral difficulties, family transitions, school stress, abuse and more. We use non-directional and directional play therapy techniques for assessment and treatment, and request parental or guardian involvement in the therapeutic process.
